Process and Pricing

Your request
First, you let me know your needs using the form under “Contact”. Please mention the volume of text to be translated, the desired turnaround time, and the general nature of the document (e.g., “a contract”).
I will respond very quickly with an email explaining my current availability.

If I am available, I will ask you to send me the document by email for an estimate. If you prefer, or if data protection law requires it, I will also sign your non-disclosure agreement before you send the file. I will keep your file and information confidential in any case.

My estimate
Once I have the file, I will perform a word count and prepare an estimate based on the volume of text to be translated.

My charge is USD 0.14 per English target word, which is roughly equivalent to:

USD 0.165 per German source word,
USD 0.15 per Italian source word,
USD 0.145 per Dutch source word,
USD 0.145 per Spanish source word, and
USD 0.135 per French source word.

You can choose to apply my estimate based on the source word count, or agree in advance to apply the target word count at USD 0.14 per English word.

My minimum charge per order is $50.

Discount for document updates
If your document is an update of a previous translation that you were happy with, and if you can provide me with the previous source and target documents, then I will prepare the estimate to reflect only the new words that I must translate, leaving out the sections of text that can be taken over verbatim from the previous translation.. This will potentially save a lot of money.

Placing your order
Once we agree on terms, you just have to send a purchase order or brief statement of commitment laying out the agreed terms (price, deadline, file format, means of delivery) along with any special requests (e.g., UK or US spelling, style guides, etc.). When I confirm acceptance of the purchase order or statement of commitment, we will have a contract.

Work and delivery
I will then translate the file(s) personally and return them to you by the agreed deadline via email or other secure file transfer system to which you have provided access.

Billing and payment
Along with my translation, or soon after, I will send an invoice conforming to the terms of the agreement or purchase order.

Payment can be made by check, Zelle or Paypal and will be due within 30 days of delivery of the invoice.
