At 57 years of age, I have over thirty years of professional translation experience in five European languages: German, Italian, Dutch, French and Spanish. I earned degrees in German at two of America’s top universities, UC Berkeley (B.A., 1986) and Princeton (M.A., 1989), and I am an active member of the American Translators Association with ATA-certification in German-to-English and Italian-to-English translation.
I started working as a professional translator in downtown Manhattan in 1991 and became a freelance translator in 1992. I have been working full-time in the profession since then, mostly in the legal, financial, technical, medical and pharmaceutical fields.
I am a language enthusiast, having taken Latin, ancient Greek, Arabic, German, French and Italian at the university level. But I also took courses in physics, biology, and general and organic chemistry as an undergrad. My generalist education enables me to understand a wide range of documents and find the English terms appropriate to each field.
